THE MORTAR DISTRICT
Also called the Industrial Sector, the Mortar District gets its name from some
stone circles that Bingham found carved into rocks embedded in the floor of one
of the houses. He judged them to be mortars for crushing grain although
modern-day historians don’t give much credence to this theory.
